CLEVELAND, Ohio — Word came early in the second half on Friday — Cleveland State was playing for a share of first place. The Vikings took it to heart and closed out a 78-68 victory over Green Bay in the Wolstein Center. It was the first of a two-game set in the Wolstein Center — the second is 2 p.m. Sunday against Milwaukee — that could give clear definition to the Horizon League race. With Milwaukee losing at Youngstown State, CSU (16-4, 6-2) is now tied with the Panthers (13-7, 6-2). Sunday’s game is for sole possession of first. The Vikings turned a 36-30 lead into a comfortable 59-41 cushion by the 10:32 mark as senior guard Trevon Harmon had 19 points. Senior swingman D’Aundray Brown, in the midst of an 8-for-29 shooting slump over the previous three games, had nine points for his best effort since scoring 13 on Jan. 5 against Illinois-Chicago. Brown, the clear team leader, made his presence all over the court as he finished with five rebounds, seven assists and two steals.
